I do not really collect German WWII items , not for any political reasons , but simply its too hard to tell real from fake , I stumbled across these 2 Smocks and purchased them for a very low price , less then what a bad repo costs , I figured they were repos , and was shocked to find out both were real . The Splinter Smocke is a size Small Short , but is cut very big to fit over equiptment and uniform and fits like a large over a T-Shirt . It is almost mint condition with no major problems and no repairs that I have found , one of waist tie's is barely holding on by a thread , but otherwise , it looks fantastic with almost zero fading. Both Smocks show light wear , but I think it was from someone wearing these hunting or doing work around the house post war , I found Nails and Screws in the pockets , and whoever wore them prefered the Marsh pattern as it has one bad 3/4 " L tear in the bottom and about 4-5 small holes with the largest being about 4mm across , both are dirty and the Marsh has some kind of varnish on one of the arms and cuff , it also has some small grease stains , the great thing about them is they can be cleaned and will look almost new ! some of the snaps have light rust but nothing too bad , Rapid zippers through out , for what I spent I could not be happier , the only other cheap buy better in my life was the movie ticket I bought my wife on our first date ! Both Smocks were manufactured by Franz Weck of Berlin. This Splinter Smock still has the thread where the original tailors tag was on it .
